The new building, which measures around 1,000 square metres, will not only house the latest technology, such as an automatic pipe warehouse including a cut-to-length station, but will also be state-of-the-art in all other respects: a heat pump will be supported by the heat recovery of the air compressors required for production, thus ensuring the right climate in the building. A photovoltaic system also provides part of the energy required. Together with the PV modules already installed on another hall, Welte will achieve a maximum output of 160 kWp. In addition, a green roof provides natural insulation to protect the building from heat and cold. βThis construction project is an enormously important expansion of our capacities and at the same time an elementary component of our vision for the future,β explains Alexander Welte.
The urgently needed extension to the production hall is currently being built on the site of the company headquarters. With a planned construction period of around one year, the company will have around 800 square metres of additional space available for the driveshaft division from next autumn. A further 200 square metres are planned for the employees - including a modern common room. The dispatch department will also be housed in the new premises in future.
